edge-of-your seat action. Favourite to take
the junior title again was Sheldon ‘On A
Roll’ Simkus, however his run of wins would
finally come to an end with North Stradbroke
lad Ethan Ewing stepping up, delivering his
consistent slashing fin-release style, placing
himself comfortably in the winner’s chair.
Late afternoon on the Saturday there were
two distinct storms on the horizon - one

heats, and as the final hit the water things
finally got serious - it’s about the only
serious part of the whole weekend, and up

Thomas blasted out after the hooter, straight
into a screamer of a barrel from up at the

Paul ‘Brizzo’ Surman was looking the

Occy, Dru Adler and eventual winner Thomas
Woods. Timmy Hyland returned to defend
his 2014 title and opened well, taking his
heat and along with Clint Guest and Jacob
Byrne they eliminated the dark horse Shane
Bevan and Izzy McCallister. Others on fire
were Luke Hynd and Nick Callister, whilst
Byron Hoskins upset a few when he helped
eliminate Creed McTaggart, Polsy and Jacob
Byrne in his show-stopping heat.
As we headed towards the final, Damien
Healy and Thomas Woods would face off in
the last of the quarter finals - Woods taking
it with Damien living by his namesake and
staying right on his heels in second spot.
Damien would get another couple of shots
at Thomas, both in the semi and the final.
