now ingrained Single Fin competition, Burleigh is the centrepiece of
competition surfing for hundreds of miles in either direction.
Ramping it up every year has been the juniors, and their collective
displays of surfing skill and outstanding performance, which seem
to raise the bar each time. We’re walking past a few of the opens
competitors and overhear them rejoicing in the fact that they
don’t have to surf against the likes of Maddy Job,
Sheldon Simkus and Ethan Ewing - says it all
really. This year they didn’t disappoint,
with the final turning into a
clutch heat filled with
nail-biting
and
Anthony Pols hunting the Burleigh barrel early on day two - always a
fierce competitor, he’s probably the last person you want breathing
down your neck in any heat. Just remember - he can beat you!
