Dredging the seaway will expose the area to significantly greater swell and tidal current
impacts than are currently there - cruise ship companies know this and so far have failed to

In 2006 then LNP leader Lawrence Springborg, sided by Jeff Seeney, paraded around
the public rally at The Spit to stop a similar proposal under the Labor government of the
day. They smiled, shook the hands and pledged to the people of the Gold Coast that
the LNP would protect the area from this kind of thing for ‘forty years, and beyond and
beyond and beyond’. Now they have taken the votes and powered into office, and not
only has there been a deafening silence from the LNP and almost all of their MPs, but a
