We’re motoring past an offshore ledge, miles from anywhere when it suddenly stands
up and taunts us with a bowling left and solid kegging right that fires down the line.
It would be safe to assume this hidden surf spot is known only to a handful of lucky
Queenslanders who every now and then brave the sharky waters to score this reef
when it turns on. It is certainly isolated and out there. We can’t help but fantasise
about what it’s like when it’s five feet and offshore // Photo Luke Sorensen
