JOE SATRIANI // Shockwave Supernova (Out now, Sony Music Australia) He is widely regarded as one of the greatest guitar players of the modern era, and not only is this the quintessential guitar master’s 15th studio album, but it saw him joining forces once again with acclaimed co-producer and engineer John Cuniberti. The pair have a history of working together dating back to Satriani’s debut album Not Of This Earth and the follow-up Surfing With the Alien. The album is available physically, digitally and in a double LP 120 gram vinyl release. THE CHEMICAL BROTHERS // Born In The Echoes (Out now, EMI) Labelled the undisputed masters of brain-altering, transcendent electronica, it’s no wonder The Chemical Brothers’ first studio album since 2010 is as anticipated as this. With Beck, St Vincent, Ali Love and Q-Tip all featured, there’s plenty to listen out for in terms of getting your brain mutated out of shape. It’s a delicious melting pot of robotic funk and unhinged futurist Freakbeat. SKEGGS // Fun (Out now, Ratbag Records) This Byron surf dude trio was recently the first act to be signed to Ratbag Records run by their mates in Dune Rats, just played Splendour In The Grass on the main stage upon invitation from Triple J, did gigs at Canadian Music Week and a US tour, and recorded their debut EP at Converse Rubber Tracks Studios in New York … no wonder it’s called Fun. Sounds like a good excuse for another tour! Catch them on the Fun Tour at The Foundry in Brisbane on Sept 26.
