Our students partnered together in our first theme day chapel of the school year!
Each quarter we come together for a combined (Preschool to Grade 12) chapel focusing on our annual theme. This year’s theme is Together Before the Throne.
Our first theme chapel of the year focused on coming before the throne of our God to focus on Who our God is. Students worked in partner grades in an acrostic-type activity using the word THRONE. Students created posters that listed God’s attributes for each of the letters in the word THRONE.
When we came back together, our chaplain, Mr. H., used the lists of attributes to share a short message of encouragement.
Once students enter kindergarten, they are matched with the Grade 6 class as partner grades. They will be together as partners for six years as they grow together. Grade 1 is partnered with Grade 7, Grade 2 with Grade 8, and so forth up through Grade 11 and Grade 5. Once students graduate from Grade 5, they “cross the parking lot” and become the older half of the partnership. In the fall they welcome the newest kindergarten class! Our senior class has the privilege of working with our youngest students in the Pre-K classrooms each year.
The partner grades spend time together in a variety of ways each year. They will serve and celebrate together during our fall Service & Celebration Day and our spring Give-Back & Field Day. They worship and dig into our theme together during our quarterly theme chapels.
This year they are also getting together for quarterly math-based fun! Each quarter the students get together and spend time sharpening math skills with math-related games and activities.
