OCTOBER 2021

THE LION'S ROAR

4

On Thursday, 9/16, the middle school students had the opportunity to have a special retreat day on campus. We were blessed to have former CCS teacher, Mr. Brian Sullivan come to Cornerstone to lead us in our retreat activities. We began with a competition where the students created infomercial-type skits encouraging the world to invest in God’s love. The students were then able to enjoy a time of worship and Bible study led by Mr. Sullivan. During this time, we discussed the importance of roots. In addition, we brainstormed the different things the world encourages us to be rooted in: yourself, family, work.

Finally, we examined what it means and looks like to be rooted in love. After we wrapped up our spiritual time, we were able to enjoy a pizza lunch. In the afternoon, the students had an opportunity to play a four-way version of Capture the Flag. The middle school retreat was a great time of worship, fellowship, and fun! Special thanks to Mr. Sullivan for leading us in our retreat!

CCS at the Hebron Harvest Fair!

Amongst the tractor pulls, jumping dock dogs, demolition derby, cows and tigers (yeah, for real), this year’s attendees at the Hebron Harvest Fair had an opportunity to discover what makes Cornerstone special, as we hosted our first ever booth at the fair. It was a first for Cornerstone, and a last minute one at that, but we were excited to be part of the one of Connecticut's largest agricultural fairs as they celebrated their 50th year from September 9th through the 12th. The CCS booth was located in the community area, where families sat at picnic tables as performers filled the area with music. It was a chance for us to meet new friends and potential future students, as well as see some of our own families at the fair.

Our participation was the brainchild of our new Director of Events and Fundraising, Tammy Choleva, and was supported by many staff members and CCS families as they took turns welcoming attendees to the CCS booth and telling people all about our

school and their love for her. While the opportunity came upon us quickly, limiting our ability to fill the many time slots at the booth, God provided as usual.

Thank you to the families who helped by taking a shift or two to run our booth. We look forward to

providing many more opportunities for families to

share their CCS story in the future as we look for creative new ways to bring awareness of CCS to our communities. God willing, we will see you at the fair next year!
