Feed the Need Kickoff & Chili Cook-Off
Tuesday, October 12 @ 6:00PM
All CCS families will send at least one parent/guardian to this informative and exciting event. Our Feed the Need Kickoff & Chili Cook-Off takes place on Tuesday, 10/12, beginning at 6:00 PM. Please note the following important reminders as you prepare to learn more about how this program will engage your child in global service while also raising critical funds for CCS. Children are welcome to attend with at least one parent/guardian, but they will be in the care of their parent(s) while at this event; childcare is not available for this event.
Where: We will gather outdoors on the front and side lawn of the McLain building; drivers dropping off chili will be permitted to enter the campus by way of the typical exit by the McLain building, stopping at the front steps to deliver chili, and proceeding to the McLain parking lot to the rear of the building. (All exits from campus will be via the main driveway.)
Agenda Timeline:
Please note that most of our evening will take place after sunset (and outside due to COVID precautions), so be sure to keep your children safely by your side.
5:45PM If you would like your chili to be entered into the Chili Cook-Off, please drop off your chili at 5:45 PM. Chili drop-off will be at the top of the stairs on the Main Street side of the McLain building.
5:55PM If you signed up to be a "chili judge," the judge tasting will begin at 5:55.
5:45-6:00PM Sign in at the registration table at the back corner of the McLain building (by the parking lot).
6:05 PM We will pray for God's grace over our meal; three prize drawings will take place for those in attendance. We will then begin lining up on the front steps to get a bowl of chili; we will eat on the side lawn using our own lawn chairs/blankets.
6:30 PM The Chili Cook-off winners and prizes will be announced, and the Feed the Need overview will be provided.
7:00 PM A word from our Corporate Sponsors Team will be shared so that we can coordinate efforts by inviting our mutually frequented business to joing us in this venture; drawings for participation prizes will take place over the following 20 minutes.
What to Bring: Your cell phone, your own lawn chairs and/or blanket to sit on the lawn, bug repellant (if desired), a warm jacket for when the sun goes down; a pot of chili to share (if you signed up to do so).
If you signed up to bring "something else," please consider bringing a pot of rice or some cornbread, which may be more appealing to the children who will be in attendance.
