THE LION'S ROAR

ALUMNI UPDATE (continued from page 2)

years ago. It was my senior year at Liberty, and I had been going through some mental health struggles, as well as going through somewhat of a faith deconstruction (to use a buzzword). As I spent time in scripture, I was realizing how much of what the Bible taught did not line up with the "gospel" I had heard growing up in my own home church. In fact, I also learned how many of my personal beliefs didn't align with that same faith tradition in which I was raised.  I became increasingly aware of the dichotomy of what that faith tradition taught me and what I now realized the Bible taught, and I believed.  I finally came to the faith understanding of the salvation that God provided through Jesus Christ, as taught in the Bible and as taught to me at CCS.

The biggest blessing that CCS gave me was repeatedly exposing me to a biblical Gospel that weaved its way into what I believed. I had encountered God in such unique ways during events like our high school retreat and through many of the people I met at Cornerstone. Although the countless biblical integrations in my classes at CCS seemed tedious or even annoying at times, those conversations were invaluable moments that planted seeds that produced their fruit several years later in my life. God's providence and faithfulness is so evident in how he used CCS in my life. I’m forever grateful!

HONORING GRANDPARENTS AT CCS

We were beyond excited to once again open our doors to some precious CCS members--Grandparents!

Many grandparents joined our elementary students for the morning. The Cornerstone Parents-Teachers- Friends Association (PTFA) provided a light breakfast, which was greatly enjoyed!

Grandparents then enjoyed a special program that featured presentations from each of our elementary classes.  Finally, our students hosted their endeared visitors in their classrooms. What a blessing it is to partner together for the education of our precious students!

K-Prep has been learning about the different careers

God may call them to explore when they grow up. They

expressed interest in jobs ranging from nurses and doctors, to

princesses and Power Rangers, and jobs involving

animals, like veterinarians and farmers. When discussing

the endless possibilities, Miss Jordan began to reach out to

people with different occupations that she felt the kids

could learn about through engaging hands-on activities. To

expand opportunities (especially for those animal loving

kids), she contacted Tails of Joy and was quickly conversing

with Jan about arranging a visits for her to bring her dog Sophie to the K-Prep class! She gave them kisses, which the students thought was so funny! "She just keeps loving me!" one student said between giggles and dog kisses. We talked about how a therapy dog's job is to make people smile, even when they may not feel happy! They have to be trained to follow directions and be very gentle and patient, just as Sophie was with them. We got to see firsthand how God called Jan and Sophie to this career and how they help our community to be a happier place!
