While this year’s girls' basketball season wasn't exactly a slam dunk, the team was excited to get the ball bouncing again after losing a season to the pandemic.
After a slow start in the first six games (1-5), the team rebounded and finished strong with a 5-3 record; they ended the season with a win against Master’s last week. Coach Howard attributed the mid-season pivot to “great team unity and a positive attitude” as well as the leadership of seniors Sydnie Hoover, Norah Snellenberger, and Izzy Tirado-Rivera, who guided the team through their encouraging words and spearheading the team’s growth through the season.
In terms of challenges over the season (besides the pandemic), snow days, being unable to make up those games and practices, and various injuries made things a bit difficult. The team persevered and kept moving forward, as Coach Howard proudly summarized the year, “The team play dramatically improved, and I couldn’t be more proud of them in terms of how they developed as individuals and as a team." Congrats to our Lions!

Varsity Girls' Basketball HOOP-la!
Speaking of dribbling (of a different kind, though), it is about time for middle school soccer players to get out those cleats and shin guards! We have 18 athletes from Grades 6-8 interested in signing up for spring soccer starting this month. Kickoff begins on March 15 with a pizza party and concussion prevention training with first-time CCS Coaches Main and Bushong heading this year’s team. CCS varsity captain Gabe Pekari and other players from the varsity team will also pitch in and help mentor and train these players this year. First game is April 9; see you on the pitch!
