THE LION'S ROAR
MARCH 2022
My fourth grandson (no granddaughters yet) was born on February 21. (I am waiting at his house, as I type this article, for him to arrive home from the hospital so I can help Mommy and Daddy with their first week home, and I cannot wait to meet him!) The arrival of a new baby draws all kinds of beautiful parallels for us as we consider how great is God’s love for us.
Due to COVID, only Daddy could be at the hospital with Mommy and Baby Arthur. So, I had to rely on the photos that were texted to me and brief moments on FaceTime with less-than-ideal Internet service at the hospital. One photo stood out to me, though. My daughter was holding her newborn just moments after delivering him, and her expression was filled with inexpressible love that she could not have imagined possible only moments earlier.
A parent's (and grandparent's) love is one of the greatest examples and evidences of us being created in the image of God. Because God loves each of us more than we can even begin to imagine, we are able to love a newborn baby with absolutely no strings attached. In fact, if you think about it, there are all kinds of "reasons" a new mother should logically not like the baby, yet the image of God imprinted on each of us triumphs. We become filled with love for someone that we so know so little about yet, who will interrupt our lives as we know them, cause us a lifetime of sleepless nights (even when our children are adults), disappoint us, hurt us, and yet...we absolutely love that amazing bundle of a gift to us.
God is just like that, but with an even greater capacity to love than we could ever imagine. He loves us even knowing all the times we will choose our own ways over His. The Holy Spirit helps us to love others with the Father's unconditional love when we love God with our whole heart, soul, and mind (Matthew 22:37). What an amazing Father who has stamped His image into us!

MEET OUR MIDDLE SCHOOL MATH/SCIENCE TEACHER
The high school journalism class interviewed Mrs. Pamela Roberts, who teaches science in the middle school.
Q. What is your favorite thing about being a teacher?
I love teaching. I love making sure kids understand the material and enjoy the learning process because sometimes the love of learning is lost.
Q. Do you have any advice for a first-year teacher?
Don't get overwhelmed the first year of teaching because you have so much to do. Don't get overwhelmed with preparing; enjoy time with the kids. Do not be discouraged if a class doesn’t go as planned or the students don’t understand a concept and you have to go over it again. Another thing I would say is to pray about everything. God will give you ideas, help you prioritize, and whatever you need, He will provide.
