GIVE-BACK DAY May 13
If at first you don’t succeed, try, try again! After three years of planning a Give-Back Day and two years of disruptions to those plans, we finally had the opportunity to see our plans come to life. On Friday, May 13, our partner grades enjoyed a morning of working together to give back to the community and an afternoon of working together to accomplish a series of field day activities.
For the morning service, our classes worked in one of three locations: outside at Our Savior Lutheran Church in South Windsor, outside at Light House in Manchester, or inside and outside right here at Manchester Church of the Nazarene. By having their many hands working together, our students were able to lighten the load for those they served.
We rounded out the morning’s hard work by having the students prepare and present creative expressions of their service, as seen through songs, art, and more. Following lunch, the students engaged in a series of field day events. The activities included relay races, Oreo cookie face races, egg tosses, 4-Way Tug-of-War, a 40-foot inflatable obstacle course, and more. Students competed as teams to accomplish goals, with the seniors and the partner grades of 10 and 4 tying for first place.
A fun day was had by all who participated. We are grateful for all the parent volunteers who helped to make the day a great success!
GR. 3-5 AWARDS &
GR. 5 PROMOTION
How wonderful it was to welcome parents back into the building as we celebrated the Upper Elementary Awards and Grade 5 Promotion! Each year during this ceremony, we honor the character qualities that our upper elementary students possess. We also highlight academic honors earned by our 4th and 5th grade students. The ceremony continues with a time to honor the 5th grade students before they advance to middle school. Our 5th grade students gave short speeches, acknowledging important people and memories, and they shared what they are anticipating in middle school. It was a special time together!
