Christian education involves some of the most exciting teamwork in the world! Have you ever been a member of a large band or a choir and been amazed by the harmony that is produced? Have you participated on an athletics team and been so grateful for the excellent defense to make the work of the offense effective? Can you recall a time when your church set out to accomplish a task larger than itself and seen God's handiwork firsthand? All these scenarios require teamwork, and the rewards are great when each member of the team does his/her big or small part with gusto!
There are a multitude of moving parts in the work of Christian education, and it cannot accomplish its goals without the concerted effort of every single player. As we are told in 1 Corinthians 12:26, when any one part does not do its job, the rest of the mission is less effective than it could be. Some of the parts are less visible than others, but visibility is never the measure of importance. For instance, we cannot see the human heart, but without one's heart, the rest of the body stops functioning!
Christian education begins with parents desiring more for their children and being willing to do whatever it takes to make that happen. It takes a committed governing body that is able to work together to discern and hear God's leading. Christian education requires individual teachers to respond to God's promptings and to rely upon Him for their provision. It takes volunteers who are willing to invest their time and energy by coaching athletes and helping transport them to and from games.
Christian education also requires the support of MANY others who are not necessarily a direct part of the school... but who believe in the cause and mission of Christian education, because the cost of running a quality school is greater than tuition can easily cover for most families. Coordinating these types of efforts and communicating the school's mission requires many behind-the-scenes efforts, too.
I truly cannot think of a more exciting venture than Christian education! It is a tremendous pleasure to be a part of God's work with all of you. Thank you for your part!
