THE LION'S ROAR

DECEMBER 2021

I have had the privilege of serving here at Cornerstone since the fall of 2007 when I began as a middle school teacher, and I have worked at the administrative level since the fall of 2008.  I have consistently heard the mutual desires of the school and church boards to establish tuition rates at levels that are as affordable as possible to accommodate a wide range of income levels.  The only way to do this is to establish an alternative revenue source to offset our actual costs so that we are also in a position to afford qualified professionals/ educators to join us in the mission.

The best way we have found over the years to help offset tuition costs is to offer families ways to help creatively raise funds to cover a portion of their tuition costs, our primary source of income.  We traditionally do this through three annual board-sponsored fundraisers.  However, we have also learned over the years that many families do not feel they have the time to help with fundraisers and prefer to simply pay an opt-out fee instead.

We were very excited about working with The Champion Group this year to run Feed the Need, because we would be able to dovetail our fundraising with a large-scale service project at the same time.  We knew that working with an organization on this type of project would be a lot of work, and we knew there would be a fair number of expenses associated with running a successful program.  We had looked at this fundraiser a few years ago, and we weren’t sure we had the manpower to pull it off, but the school and church boards prayerfully decided to give it a try.  We would trust God for the results, just as we have done every year!

It is critical that every family at CCS faithfully fulfill its commitment to either help fundraise or to pay the related opt-out fees.  We absolutely have to work together to preserve our ability to provide a Christian education for our young people.  Working together to meet a need is completely biblical, too!  CCS does fundraising to provide an avenue for families to lower their tuition costs and to come together to watch what God can do right in our midst.  We serve such a mighty God!
