We hope the release of the Herd Reference
Issue finds you well. Please note the above list
of the top 20 breeders for genomic testing over
the last calendar year, including the GeneSeek
Genomic Profile 50K and 150K. These breeders
not only see the value of higher EPD correlations
and accuracies, but they are committed to
moving the breed forward by utilizing the
most progressive technology available. NALF
encourages each of you to reach out to staff
about genomics if you have questions.
Did you know….
A $55 LD genomic profile includes parentage,
and can be bundled with color and polled for an
additional $30. If you did the math, a genomic
profile run with a color and polled bundle, when
compared to a standalone SeekSire parent
verification test ($31) and color and polled bundle
($50) is only $4 per head more. For an extra $4,
these cattle will be genomically enhanced.
Tissue Sampling Units (TSUs) and collection
guns are available for purchase through NALF.
This method of sample collection is as easy as
tagging an ear and allows for a more efficient
sample pull process. Most of the time, tissue
samples can be pulled more times than blood or
hair before becoming depleted. Tissue samples
should be sent in a padded envelope or box and
should include the cardboard backing from the
box where the animal’s tattoo should be written.
