Junior Perspective
Whatever You Are, Be A Good One
By Anna Johnson, NALJA ex-officio
As I sit here in my final semester of college at the University of Minnesota, I cannot help but wonder what my future holds. What will happen once I graduate? What school will I teach at? What will my first students be like? The future holds many unknowns for all of us, but each chapter in our lives holds something different. Opening and closing these chapters in our lives can be fun, exciting, and downright scary at times! As I am coming closer to the end of my NALJA chapter, some of you are just beginning. NALJA is one of those chapters in my life that helped me to grow into a better person.
Abraham Lincoln once said,“ Whatever you are, be a good one.” Think about this for a minute. What exactly is a“ good one” is up to you. From simply being a good person, a stellar athlete, the best showman, an awesome cheerleader from the sidelines, or the greatest show mom to ever exist,
I firmly believe that the Limousin breed has some of the best people in the industry. This breed and the people involved are the true definition of“ whatever you are, be a good one.”
you get the chance to define what exactly you are going to be good at.
In the past seven years, I have had the privilege to watch NALJA produce so many“ good ones.” I firmly believe that the Limousin breed has some of the best people in the industry. This breed and the people involved are the true definition of“ whatever you are, be a good one.” The youth involved in this breed are good at so many different aspects within and outside of the livestock industry, helping them to be the well-rounded individuals they are. From athletics to music, our youth can do it all! It does not matter where your talents may lie, simply go for them and be the best you can be!
Thank you all for seven great years of memories and support! You hold a special place in my heart whether you are age five or 95. Even though this NALJA chapter of mine is coming to a close, I will look forward to watching those of you who are opening up your NALJA chapter.
Going back to our wonderful junior national show this summer, I would once again like to thank Dean and Bev Summerbell, Ann Vorthmann, Brenda Anderson, and the entire Heartland Limousin Association for a job very well done!
