Congratulations to the
Award Winners
The North American Limousin Foundation
would like to recognize the award winners
for the 2018 year. NALF has three award
programs to recognize individuals or
companies who promote the Limousin
breed. These awards are Marketing Booster
of the Year, Commercial Producer of the
Year and NALF Promoter of the Year.
This year, three great programs were recognized
for their efforts to further advance the Limousin
breed through their individual endeavors.
Hager Cattle Company Karlsruhe, N.D., received
the Marketing Booster of the Year award.
Receiving the Commercial Producer
of the Year was Gress Farms, Denison, Iowa.
Alltech, Lexington, Ky., was named the NALF
Promoter of the year. These awards were
presented on Monday, January 14, 2019 at
the Limousin banquet during the NWSS and
Annual Limousin Convention in Denver, Colo.
Marketing Booster of the Year
Like so many seedstock producers, the
roots of the Commercial Marketing Booster of
the Year are planted firmly
in the commercial cattle industry.
He was barely school age when his parents
purchased their first Limousin bulls to use
on commercial cows. They were looking
for a way to add more pounds and muscle
to their calves and improve the overall
appearance of the resulting feeder cattle.
Before he was legal to drive, Austin figured
if his dad was going to be buying bulls, he

might as well buy them from his son. So,
he sold his commercial cows and begin
building a Limousin female herd. He started
with one cow and some 25 years later, he
will be hosting his 13th annual bull sale.
The part of the world they operate in can get
record breaking snowfalls, followed by scorching
summer heat and devastating drought. Yet the
diversified ranching and farming operation
not only manages to survive, but to thrive. Just
like the Limousin and Lim-Flex cattle they are
known around the country for producing.
He has often been heard saying, “If they don’t
work for me, they won’t work for my customers.”
And that my friends, is anything but lip service.
