President’s Message
Hello, November
By Gary Fuchs, NALF president
We have had an eventful
couple of months as Limousin
breeders. For some of us
we may have learned a new
four-letter word, BOLT.
While the new EPD system
might have shocked some of
us with its results and effects
on our breeding programs,
we need to be confident that
the new system will ultimately
benefit us as breeders and the
entire breed. The scientists that
have worked on developing this
process are confident in their

work and the data it produces.
We also need to learn to develop
confidence in the results.
Our staff has worked hard over
the last couple of months to
ensure that the results produced
are correct according to the
data submitted. The one trouble
with correct, is that sometimes
the correct result might not
be the one we want. I hope
each of us can productively
evaluate our breeding
options and find avenues to
continue the improvement
of our breed and our herds.
On a different note, the National
Western Stock Show and our
breed events surrounding
our time in Denver is fast
approaching. I hope each of
you consider the opportunities
provided at this event for you to
participate in some great breed
functions and opportunities to
engage with other breeders.
Good luck to each of you. I
