The Czech Beef Breeders Association (ČSCHMS)
is the oranization, which is authorised by the
Ministry of Agriculture of the Czech Republic
to cordinate and organize a selection program
for all beef breeds reared in the Czech
Republic. Since it was established in 1990, the
ČSCHMS’ main objectives are especially:
Breeding target
The main aim of contemporary breeding is to
create a population of modern cattle, combining
excellent meat production, while maintaining
good adaptability to the natural environment,
good maternal qualities and high grazing abilities.
With the increase in numbers and the effort of
breeders is leading to achieve the following
objectives: keeping of maternal abilities, increase
of growth capacity and beef quality, breeding
to polled and use of double-muscled bulls.

evaluation of animals
• Selection of young bulls for breeding at
performance test stations (both for
insemination and natural services bulls)
Breed standard
• Estimation of breeding values
(with assistance of Agricultural Research
Institute in Prague)
Morphological characteristics and construction
- harmonic animals with maximum conformation
especially hams, loins and shoulders
• Keeping of a HerdBook for all beef breeds
Coloring - red to pale mantle, lighter
around the nose, eyes and limbs
• The promotion of beef cattle (shows,
seminars), etc
Skellet - soft, keeping the depth of the
chest and the length of the body
• Cattle trade
The ČSCHMS operates all over the Czech Republic
and associates breeders of all beef breeds. Within
the ČSCHMS, breeders’ clubs for particular breeds
have been established. These breeders’ clubs
are independent in coordinating the breeding
aims and tools of a particular breed - they assign
