Tennessee and Arkansas in March introduced me to longtime members whose programs focused primarily on females ranging from Lim-Flex show prospects to Fullblood brood cows . One commonality between all breeds , no matter what their focus , was the fact they were filling what their market demanded . Herd visits in April , ranging from Pennsylvania to South Carolina , let me really get my boots dirty and get a grasp on what individual producers were doing to find the “ niche ” that fit the region and program they called home .
These travels educated me not only on breeding philosophies , pedigrees and regional beef trends , but more importantly the marketing and promotion for NALF members . A numerous amount of times during HRI advertising discussions I was asked how to get more out of an advertising dollar . A fair question , and as I traveled it was an answer that was being tweaked and reshaped . Today , that answer has many layers to it with the first being that even though we list phone numbers on ad ’ s , that is not the principal marketing avenue today . Avenues that are difficult to measure but are taken via the HRI advertising include Facebook views , website visits and views that may not result
in direct phone calls but do equate to positive business .
As many of you read this , we will be preparing for National Junior Limousin Show & Congress and the International Limousin Congress in Denver ,
Colorado . These events are the ones that create the memories that last a lifetime , with families working together at Junior Nationals and with the introduction of new cultures and people at the International Limousin Congress . I look
