President’s Message
of displays that Limousin cattle
were taken to, the growth of
the Foundation and the success
Limousin cattle had in carcass
contests and market animal
shows, are all examples of the
source of pride breeders had in
our new breed. There was also a
sense of amazement about how
much change one cross with a
Limousin bull provided in a calf.
I want to close this month with a

Floyd McGown that is included
in the forward of The History of
Limousin in North America. Mr.
McGown wrote: “The breeders
who brought Limousin its place
today were the real cattlemen
and women who recognized the
strength of the French breed,
saw where modifications were
needed to fit the American scene,
and had the patience and faith
to mold the American Limousin.
These were men and women
who really believed in the breed.”
Today we have dedicated people
that are willing to work, promote
and breed cattle for the current
American cattle market. We
need to be proud and excited
about the type of cattle we each
produce. Limousin bulls today
can still change calves just as they
did at the start of the Limousin
breed on this continent. I
