Overcoming My Fears

I was recently chosen to be on the
NALJA Board of Directors and I am
excited to start this new journey to help
make this breed a success. I believe
the things I may be able to achieve are
products of hard work and dedication
that I will bring to all of you in the breed.
Coming from the state of Washington,
it was hard to try and get my name
out there, especially when running
for a Board of Directors position.
There was an abundance of struggles
and bumps I had to build upon to
get where I am today. Things I had
to achieve to be successful were
my knowledge among the breed
and learning how to be a better
public speaker. Learning how to
communicate more with people
of all ages was a key component
in getting me out of my bubble.
When arriving this past year to my
first Junior National show, I was so
nervous. Through that, I was still very
excited to see new faces and get to
know all the wonderful people within
the Limousin breed. Going through
the week, I was determined to work
hard and get my name out there, so
I can be known as Zane Gavette, and
not “the kid from Washington.” When
the week was over, I felt like I had not
only achieved my set goals, but also
goals that I didn’t know I set for myself.
I was lucky enough to be voted into
the board of directors. I wouldn’t have
made it if it wasn’t for the hard work
and dedication that was put into it.
I love the saying “it’s not about how
hard you hit, it’s about how hard you
can get hit and keep moving forward.”
With as many struggles and fears I went
through to get here, I keep getting
back up and pushing forward to reach
my goals. I continue to encourage
everyone that if there is something
you want to achieve, don’t hesitate to
push for it! If you work hard enough
and put all of your time and dedication
in to strive to your fullest potential,
nothing will ever stand in your way. I
