2010 North American International Livestock Exposition Grand Champion Limousin Female in the Open Show and went on to win the 2011 National Western Stock Show Grand Champion Limousin Female title in the Junior Show .
As they say , Whiskey Lullaby was the female that put the Thomas brothers on a national stage in the show cattle world . “ She was solid from the day she was born . What made her different at the time she came about , was the fact she wasn ’ t traditional . She was one of the deepest purebred females phenotypically that anyone had seen up to that point ,” Chris remembered .
In 2015 , a Whiskey Lullaby son , TASF Crown Royal 960C , hit the stage with high anticipation . Crown Royal has become a highly renowned A . I . sire that put Thomas ’ on the map throughout the country . “ You pretty much knew the day Crown Royal was born that he was going to be good ,” Chris said . “ He was a freak when he was born . His structure was there from day one and he had the added dimension and muscle shape . He carried the depth of Whiskey in his background and looked a lot like his sire , DHVO Deuce . That is why he ’ s working so well even today — you have something the purebreds were missing that he brings to the table ,” Chris said .
“ With an elite A . I . sire like Crown Royal , we were able to expand our horizon quite a bit ,” Lonnie said . “ He is readily available for everybody to use and to see national champions and champions out of him all over the country is neat .”
A moment that will forever rank high on the Thomas brothers ’ storied list of accomplishments is their very first time winning the National Junior Limousin Show and Congress . In 2018 , they traveled 25 hours from Boonsboro , Maryland , to Denver , Colorado , for Limousin Junior Nationals with only two females . The rest is history worth repeating .
The Thomas ’ raised both the 2018 National Junior Limousin Show Champion Purebred Limousin Female , TASF Eternity
“ We really enjoy the show heifer business — we get to meet a lot of new people and travel the country ,”
150E , and the 2018 National Junior Limousin Show Reserve Grand Champion Lim-Flex Female , TASF Xtra Class 124E . These two females were exhibited by Lonnie ’ s girlfriend at the time and now wife , Allyson . “ That was one of the more special moments for us when we won Junior Nationals with those two females ,” Lonnie said .
The success didn ’ t stop in Denver , Colorado , for the Thomas crew . The following year in Springfield , Missouri , they raised the 2019 National Junior Limousin Show Grand Champion Limousin Female , TASF Envy 161E , exhibited by Kinnick Paulsen of Preston , Iowa . They also raised the 2019 National Junior Limousin Show Grand Champion Lim-Flex female , TASF Forever Classy 216F , exhibited by
John Crawford of Big Pool , Maryland .
Not only did two females they raised win the purebred and Lim-Flex shows at the 2019 National Junior Show , they raised both the Third Overall Limousin Female , TASF Whiskey 222F , exhibited by Callie Hicks of Midway , Kentucky , and the Fourth Overall Limousin Female , TASF Peyton 212F , exhibited by Kade Gensini of Hennepin , Illinois . “ I didn ’ t think we could do much better than what we did in Denver the year before at Junior Nationals . Then to push it to the next level in Springfield , that was really exciting for us ,” Lonnie said .
The following year , at the 2020 National Junior Show in West Monroe , Louisiana , success followed yet another female the Thomas program raised . Morgan Wise of Topeka , Kansas , exhibited the Grand Champion Limousin Female with TASF Guardian Angel 300G .
At the 2021 National Junior Show , they raised the Third Overall Limousin Female , TASF Harley 380H , exhibited by Rylee Stockdale of Dayton , Pennsylvania . What ’ s more , several champions , division champions and reserve division champions were exhibited in both the Limousin and Lim-Flex junior shows sired by TASF Crown Royal 960C . “ It ’ s crazy how far our program has come since I was 16 and traveling to shows by myself ,” Chris remarked . continued on page 50
