Tucked away in a storybook setting , down a long , private lane in Boonsboro , Maryland , is the multi-generational Thomas and Son Farms — a purebred Limousin and Lim-Flex operation rooted in generations of family history and nestled in the beautiful landscape of Washington County , Maryland .
The trio of brothers , Chris , Daniel and Lonnie Thomas , were raised as the sixth generation on this very farm by their parents , Tracy and Brenda Thomas . The farm has been in the Thomas family since the early 1800s . Their ancestor , Solomon Thomas , purchased the original farm in 1882 from his parents , George and Sarah Thomas . The home Tracy and Brenda live in today was built in 1857 and served as a hospital during the Civil War .
The Thomas family has continued growing throughout the years . Chris and his wife , Kelsey , have a five-year-old son , Landon , and a three-year-old daughter , Carter . Daniel and his wife , Bryanna , have a seven-year-old-son , Luke , and a three-year-old daughter ,
Maci . The youngest of the three brothers , Lonnie , is married to his wife , Allyson .
Cattle have been in the family for multiple generations . They had dairy cattle until 1988 when they dispersed and shifted their focus to beef cattle . In 1989 , Tracy and his father , Donald , purchased their first group of Limousin-influenced crossbred cattle . They ran registered Limousin bulls on their crossbred cattle and soon Chris acquired his first purebred female .
In 2001 , Chris purchased his first registered Limousin heifer , KC Holy Foly , for $ 800 . From there , over the course of four to five years , Chris and his younger brothers , Daniel and Lonnie , purchased 15- 20 registered calves that they exhibited at shows across the country during their junior show careers .
Seated on the original 250 acres , Thomas and Son Farms has grown to become a name recognized across the country for superior Limousin and Lim-Flex genetics . They farm approximately 800 acres
