Nestled in a quiet road in West Sussex, it was so easy to spot Jeanne Argent’s house: one of her large sculptures – “Winged Seed” – beckoned us into her drive.
A warm welcome led us into her home, filled with her artwork of different kinds. Now in her 70s, Jeanne was one of the Founding Members of the Surrey Sculpture Society and was its Chair from 1999 to 2002.
Currently, she is busy organising two local exhibitions and preparing for her role as the guest artist, for the month of March, at the Shoreham Gallery.
She also teaches voluntarily with the U3A, running a craft group which does anything from papier mache to sculpture in cement, sewing and collage. Jeanne says: “People come with ideas and I help them realise and work out how to make them.”
