Also, I had all of the work from my degree show (quite big pieces) and nowhere to store them so I needed to try and sell them (or at least exhibit them to get them out of the house occasionally!). I did try and give one of them to Blue Peter; it was a giant tortoise, and I thought they might like it for their garden. They declined but they did invite me on to the show and did a great feature on my work.

I’ve dabbled with various roles within the Surrey Sculpture Society, helping out in small ways when I can. A few years ago I set up all of the social media and still help out with the Facebook Page.

This year I have taken on the role of Exhibition manager for the RHS Wisley Show. I’m still learning the ropes so I’m getting lots of help and guidance from people who are much better at this kind of thing than me.

It’s basically dealing with the exhibitors and Wisley, managing all aspects of the show; selection, publicity, printing, problem-solving, lots of emails, lots of typing-up spreedsheets.

Lots of changes at Wisley this year. They are doing a lot of building work and really developing the whole site. This has caused a lot of changes to our trail; we have a new route, allowing us to have more sculptures.

This means the traditional single sheet guide has been changed to a snazzy new booklet so we could fit all of the information in. We also have a guest artist joining us this year - Mike Speller. There was some talk about introducing workshops or demonstrations as they have been successful at other events but while I’m still learning the ropes I decided I had enough to deal with and we can save that for another year!

My main plan for this year is to get through it! Make sure I get everything done by the deadlines Wisley set and find enough time to get my own pieces ready for the exhibition.
