welcome

Dear Readers

I have great pleasure in introducing you to the third issue of our e-Magazine, Limited Edition. As a committee we always wanted to develop a magazine that would be interesting for both our members as well as a wider audience interested in the Arts.

In this issue, the first that will be open to the wider public beyond our membership, we have tried to achieve a balanced presentation of all our core activities, namely Exhibiting, Education and Promoting the Arts.

We feature a report on our 2017 exhibition at the Landmark Arts Centre, Teddington, through pictures, text and videos. We also publish a wonderful interview with the fascinating Filipino artist, Toym Imao, resulting in an edition brimming with educational and informative videos for all to enjoy.

I am very proud to present our 2018 Exhibition Calendar:

Starting with the Sculpture Garden at Birtley House Estate in May;

Soon followed by RHS Hyde Hall, Chelmsford in June;

During the rest of summer we will be "camping out" at RHS Wisley, Woking;

In the autumn we will be setting up a sculpture trail at the Crown Estate’s Savill Gardens;

We will end the exhibition year with our fourth sculpture showcase at the Landmark Arts Centre.

It is an enticing and busy calendar with indoor and outdoor opportunities for all our sculpting members and a great mix of opportunities for the public to see and buy sculpture in its many forms and materials.

We are very grateful to everyone who has come forward volunteering their time towards the running of these shows: From exhibition managers and designers to those who offer vital support around administration, stewarding and photo boards to name but a few aspects.

During 2018, as part of our ‘Understanding Sculpture’ programme, we have an exciting schedule, with two lectures, a studio visit and a Tate visit. More information is available on the Society’s website: www.surreysculpture.org.uk.

Please visit the website regularly. New information is always being posted, including upcoming workshops, guidelines on exhibition insurance and other helpful information for members.

I would like to thank our Editor, Marian, for all her hard work putting this third issue of Limited Edition together and providing us with such an interesting interview with Toym Imao.

We would like to invite our members and readers to contribute to future e-magazines with anything interesting related to sculpture. Just send your copy to:

Last but not least I would like to extend my gratitude to all the (Sub-) Committee members who are relentlessly working hard behind the scenes.

Happy reading!
