Landmark Art Centre

REPORT

Last November we set out to transform a magnificent cathedral-like venue into our 3rd Sculpture Showcase, our largest indoor exhibition.

During this long weekend the Landmark Art Centre was brimming with sculptures of all sizes and media, as well as paintings, set against the atmospheric backdrop of this 19th century church.

We presented the public with a wide range of educational opportunities - demonstrations, lectures and workshops - which proved especially popular with local schools, whose students actively participated in the art competitions.

Also in its third year is the Surrey Sculpture Society’s Emerging Sculptor of the Year Award, encouraging young sculptors in their endeavours to become artists in their own right.

It is an enormous task to set up this exhibition and our gratitude goes out to our member, Roz Fletcher, who has worked very hard to produce a showcase highlighting the best of our members’ works.

In this Sculpture Showcase weekend, as in other venues, we managed to present the core activities of the Society: to offer an excellent exhibition venue to all of our members, present everyone with educational opportunities and promote the Arts to the wider public.

We are very much looking forward to setting up another Sculpture Showcase at the Landmark Centre from 22 to 25 November 2018.

For details of all SSS exhibitions in 2018 please see page 31.
