Each brass sheet was also stamped creating a textured surface; the textures intended to evoke crafted materials and natural fibres.
The physical stamping of the metal was done by way of local community workshops, inviting the general public and UCA students to gain a unique insight into the making of the sculpture and be an integral part of the project. Local participation and ownership of the art being core to the original concept which Natalie and Livia had in mind.
And then after much hard work and intense fabrication in the workshop, it was time to put the cones in place. Cue a very rare day of snow in Surrey! But the show must go on and so wrapped up warm and braving the elements, the team set to work and …hey presto, on 24th March 2023, the finished installation was ready to welcome its first visitors on a (thankfully!) gloriously sunny day in the Southeast of England.
