welcome

Greetings and welcome to the magical mystery tour of sculptural adventure that is the Limited Edition.

You’ll need an extra large bag of breadcrumbs to find your way home from this latest offering..

Over the summer, we found ourselves, as a nation, mourning the death of Queen Elizabeth. I am not a strong monarchist and this is not an obituary but I do think her demise has conjured some slightly unexpected emotions in me and possibly you too.

She has been on the throne for my entire life and I doubt there are many reading this who can actively remember a time when she wasn’t.  I apologise to the octogenarians who are gently tutting that “We’re not that rare you impertinent little tyke.”

I think it’s that constancy that I’m feeling the loss of; whatever any particular year had thrown at us, we could sit down at 3pm on Christmas day and listen to a little snippet of tradition. Lord knows what I’ll do when David Attenborough goes!

With a somewhat grinding segway, I would like to suggest that change, whether sad or happy, is a great catalyst for future success.

A bit of a surprise every now and then, can do wonders for the creative spirit – a little like finishing the washing-up, emptying the bowl and finding a rogue teaspoon had evaded your most diligent fumbling in the soapy suds.

If anyone can make sense of that metaphor then please email me immediately. But the point I’m trying to convey is that a wander off the beaten track can be a tonic for the soul. As artists we can become somewhat stuck in a medium or process and feel that we’ve lost a little of the spark.

So I suggest you come along to one of our demonstrations and learn a new technique, buy a different brand of washing-up liquid or just start with a good read of this edition – who knows what might tickle your inspiration-bone.

We have a fabulous selection of venues for next year so grab a handful of renewed-vigour, get creating and we’ll see you in 2023.

All the very best to all of you.
