It’s Not a Matter of If, It’s a Matter of When
Health care costs are rising; Deductibles
are through the roof, Co-payments out of
control. And yet, we still have accidents,
How do we handle this financially? Winter
has arrived. Let’s say you are shoveling snow.
In the process you pull your back. You need
to visit your Doctor and you are asked to pay
a co-payment. Your doctor will probably send
you for an x-ray. You will pay an additional
co-payment. You might need physical
therapy and you will pay additional
co-payments each time you go. Where do
these co payments come from? They do not
come from insurance. They come from you.
Accidents and sickness will happen. This is
inevitable but nobody knows when they
will occur.
Aflac is a full time profession. I am not
affiliated with any other product whether it
is in the insurance field or outside.

Only 33% of all costs related to Cancer
treatment are covered by insurance. That is a
little known fact. If you have to take time off
from work to visit doctors, if you need time
off for chemo treatments, or if you are too
weak to work, your bills still must be paid, but
Insurance does not pay personal expenses. If
you have a high deductible the Doctor still
must be paid and more times than not you
must reach into your pocket and find the
funds. 62% of all bankruptcies are caused by
medical expenses and the lack of funds to pay
them. This is where Aflac steps into the
picture. Aflac policies are designed to help
you the policy holder with expenses that are
not covered by your insurance. They are in
place to ease the financial burden of an illness
or accident. The claim checks are mailed to
you the policy holder to help with unexpected
expenses, including daily living expenses.
Knowledge is power. I am constantly
learning of all Aflac products and benefits,
and I am eager to share all information with
my clients.
I realize there are those employers that
will put off offering Aflac benefits. In the last
three weeks I have received at least 10 phone
calls from business owners who procrastinated
and now are telling me an employee was hurt
or diagnosed with an illness. They asked if they
could sign up now. They can sign up but
unfortunately the accident or illness will not
be covered. The headline of this article stated
it’s not a matter of if but when. That is a hard fact.
