Cyberpunk, a sub-root of the punk sub-culture, spawned as a child of punk rock and the rise of new digital technologies such as computers and compact disks. Cyberpunk depicted a high tech and low effort life with an emphasis on advanced cybernetics, information technology, and interstellar travel.
Punk Rock, originally formed in '70s United Kingdom, became a mainstream trend, and much more aggressive, in the '80s. Opposed to the easy and peaceful lifestyle, Punk Rock channeled an inner angst and rage, mostly in teens and youth, in a new mainstream culture.
