competition. The second-highest grossing movie of all time--Marvel's The Avengers--was released in 2012. Ever since, Marvel's popularity has only grown. Their release of Captain America: The Winter Soldier pushed Marvel up to the top, thus becoming the top grossing cinematic franchise in history! Keep it up, Marvel!
