ELSPETH LAIRD | Ode to the Sapphire Sitting on the floor, the walls on verge to illuminate a band to whom no one is dancing Two child-men shove each other playfully, for a bit, then separate and grin as they split to opposite sides. A vacant-eyed girl perches on the cheap carpet which she rubs with her shoeless feet. An ashtray rests between the symmetrical lines of her crossed corduroyed legs. The walls! They slide towards each other to the burst of cranky poorly-lit sound. Pounding bass forces its right of way. The smoky silence of angry teenagers scowling Punctuates the empty wood floor. 10 LIGHT 11 ERICA THOSTESEN | Untitled
