Light - A Journal of Photography & Poetry 02 | Dwell | Page 5

A Note From the Editor
When we read a story , we inhabit it . The covers of the book are like a roof and four walls . - John Berger
Winter in New York . We tend to be more introspective as we settle down into the cold , dark months with nothing much to do but work , read , think and sleep . We ponder our lives , the good and the bad as we anxiously wait for the Spring so that we can run away from the thoughts which , at times haunt us . Editing during these months is a wonderful escape from the weather , especially when it is for our Spring issue . Our theme for this issue has been interpreted many different ways on these pages inside , by over 40 photographers and poets . We hope that you inhabit this issue for a while . Dwell within it .
Warm regards ,
Jennifer Drucker
In memory of John Berger Since releaseing our inaugural issue , the art world has lost a bright light ; Mr . John Berger . His collection of essays Ways of Seeing had a profound effect on me as a young photography student and again when I re-read it in preparation of launching Light . Thank you , Mr . Berger for teaching me to both see , and think more critically .
