Families in
New York City
More than half a million New York children
under the age of 6 live in low-income
households. This is a crisis we cannot afford
to ignore. Our work at LIFT-New York is
focused on meeting these families where
they are and ensuring that parents get the
resources they need to chart a different
path for their children.

This summer, thanks to our
friends at Newmark Holdings, we
moved our resource center to
the heart of the South Bronx.

This move was driven by LIFT-New York’s
desire to design around the needs of our
families and this meant starting with our
resource center. The new space is located
steps away from the subway and bus stops,
making it easily accessible to Members,
their families, and community partners.
Complete with a children’s playroom and a
drop-in computer lab, the center is designed
to facilitate connections among Members,
maximizing our goal of strengthening
Members’ social capital. In our new
space LIFT families can feel at home and
supported as they continue working hard to
reach their goals.
