2013 Highlights
LIFT had an incredible year filled with many highs
across the country. Here’s a look at some of our
favorite moments throughout the year.
Chicago Regional Summit
The LIFT-Chicago Third Annual Regional
Beyond the Bank
Summit brought together more than 100
LIFT advocates and community partners to
engage in discussion around tackling poverty
through social innovation. “Summit reinforced
why I LIFT every day,” said LIFT-Chicago Site
Coordinator Mini Reddy.
In collaboration with the Rightway Foundation, the
University of Southern California Joint Education
Economy program, and Capital Group, LIFT-Los
Angeles hosted Beyond the Bank, a financial literacy
workshop series for youth transitioning out of foster
care.

Building Leaders
Twice a year, LIFT brings together the entire
national staff and AmeriCorps Site Coordinators
for leadership training. This year, topics
ranged from how staff can effectively recruit
volunteers and members to how they can
deliver more effective presentations. It’s always
a time of growth, relationship-building, and
development.
75%
of LIFT-Chicago members who participated in a
pilot of our new member feedback system reported
that they are likely to recommend LIFT to a friend or
relative.
LIFTing Veterans
in the Bronx
Life presents challenges no matter who you are, but our
veterans face unique challenges such as Post Traumatic
Stress Disorder that not everyone can understand and
adequately support. Last fall, in partnership with the
Robin Hood Foundation and Single Stop USA, LIFT-New
York launched a veterans initiative, which builds on LIFT’s
neighbor-to-neighbor approach by pairing veteran members
with veteran advocates.
