A comprehensive BE solution to the crisis is two-fold, comprising of the necessity for urgent, organised reception and assistance to traumatised people fleeing war-torn zones and the need for a long-term solution to increasing inequalities, segregation and social exclusion, which sadly count as downfalls in the blooming diversity of our societies. “ Education is the cornerstone of an inclusive society. This isn’t rhetoric; it’s a fact” MEP Teresa Cachia The Position Paper was presented at the LLLWeek2016 Debate L L EE L K “Refugee and Migrant Challenge: Turning Commitment to Inclusive W 2 0 1 6 Education into Reality,” held on 11 October and chaired by MEP Teresa Comodini Cachia. This debate invited participants to discuss the implementation of integration policies adopted at EU level and how to avoid the traps of national protectionism and ensure implementation of policies commonly agreed at EU level. 16 • Foster a shared meaning of lifelong learning • Enable a cross-sectorial, multi- stakeholders cooperation THE PROJECT The LLL-HUB aimed to create a feeling of shared responsibility on EU lifelong learning strategies through a multilateral network and ownership among relevant stakeholders (Europe 2020 headline targets, ET2020, European Semester Country-Specific Recommend­ations…). This was achieved by fostering national and transnational public spaces for debates and mutual policy learning, involving the grassroots level in a genuine reflection with decision-makers on the design and implementation of coherent and comprehensive lifelong learning strategies. PROJECT INFO The Project Partners were: APG (PT); Camara (ES); CVO Antwerpen (BE); ITPIO (BG); Leido Academy (NL); Mardin Provincial Directorate Of Social Studies and Projects (Turkey); Lifelong Learning Platform (coordinator); FREREF (FR); RIE (BG); WUP (PL). • Structure the first transnational policy learning based on a genuine research and dialogue at regio­n­al/­ national level on EU LLL strategies METHODOLOGY 1. LLL-Labs 2. LLL-Forums 3. LLL-Agora The Agora took place on 7-8 March 2016 in Mechelen, Belgium as final pooling of expertise to make a comparative analysis of critical factors, identify common challenges and elaborate recommendations to improve LLL strategies at all levels. PROJECT OUTCOMES • Comparative Report and Policy Recommendations • National States of Play • EU Handbook and Glossary • Methodological Guidelines The project, funded under the EU Lifelong Learning Programme, started on 1 December 2013 and ended on 31 May 2016.
