Sensory Learning

Froebel used three main principles to characterize his kindergarten curriculums; sensory learning, symbolism, and self-activity or play. Froebel used sensory learning as the foundation for his curriculum on the basis that students leaned best through a variety of the senses. Sensory learning aligns with the ideas of learning styles. Linking the senses of visual learners (sight), auditory learners (hearing), kinetic (touch), etc makes the connection that we all may tend towards one sense to help us better understand and express our world. However, working to effectively use as many senses as possible allows us to more fully understand the world around us.
