old wood beams.
Decorative painting and faux finishes have been an estab-
lished practice for thousands of years. Frescoes of the
Italian Renaissance era have inspired old-world style
murals in grand homes across Europe and America. As a
result, hand applied natural stone wall plasters, gold
leafing and relief work from the thirteenth century has
found its way into modern homes.
Lorie continues to hone her craft and her knowledge by
attending classes taught by renowned instructors in the
decorative painting industry and attends trade shows so
that she stays current on latest innovations and environ-
mentally friendly products. This allows her to increase her
knowledge and experience that she brings to her clients.
Most recently she studied Renaissance painting in
Florence, Italy.
Lorie brings over 25 year s of design experience giving
her the vision and passion to explore painting methods
which enhance home or commercial spaces. She opened
One Horse Studio in 2001 to provide services which
beautify a space by adding interesting dimension and
depth, giving a surface a sense of history, or exploring
balance with color and textures. Lorie holds a BS degree
in interior design from Oregon State University and an
associate degree in textile design from the Fashion Institute
of Technology in New York.
She is a long-time member of the International Decorative
Artisan’s League (IDAL.org), on the Board of the Oregon
Chapter the Northwest Society of Interior Designers
(NWSID.org) and on the board of the Chehalem Valley
Chamber of Commerce (chehalemvalley.org). Her work
has been featured in the local press and in prestigious
