FANTASTIC NEW PEOPLE & OFFERS FROM MY CITY
Quirky Bournemouth by Ildiko Scurr
Why I Love Quirky Bournemouth
Bournemouth is located on the South coast in England and is a place with a very special vibe. It has long beaches, beautiful countryside and the New Forest where the Kings of England used to hunt deer throughout the centuries. It also has vibrant communities where you can find loads of events to suit your tastes. In the summer, there are music festivals, outdoor arts and crafts fairs and a famous Air Show that people travel to from across the UK to come and watch.
On an August night, top bands play on the beach, while fireworks light up the sky and little planes with coloured lights wheel and turn in acrobatic displays high above. The‘ Bomo style’ is something we are proud of. I love living here, you can find magic everywhere. There is a great raw vegan community and many places where you can pop in and get a veggie juice and a raw cheesecake when you are peckish. but also wonderful eateries like the Larderhouse in the Southbourne area, which is oozing with mediterranean style and has a wood burner in the back garden.
There is also a hotel culture here because there are so many of them on the seafront, ranging from the grand old edifices like the Hotel, Miramar which are filled with nostalgia for another era, to trendy modern designed buildings such as the new Hilton Hotel with its 8th floor Sky Bar. So our hotels are the hub centre of business life here, they host networking meetings, workshops, Yoga classes, guest speaker talks, therapy spas and music nights. I live 5 minutes walk from the sea where there are just a few cafes and a newsagent but within 10 minutes drive,
I can walk down a street with little boutique shops, great and quirky cafes such at the Yarn Cafe where the owner knits the furnishings and paper mâché hens and pigs add colour to your cream tea! Artisan craft emporiums, trendy secondhand stores and the South’ s first Pause Cat Cafe where you can share your latte time with a kitty. 10 minutes the other way, I am in the heart of the beautiful old forest, the peace and tranquility of nature surrounded by New Forest horses, donkeys, deer and wild places.
There is an ancient feeling in the earth in Dorset; you connect with the ancestors easily here, it draws many therapists and healers to the area and that enriches our community. I am blessed that spirit guided me here 16 years ago and I wouldn’ t want to live anywhere else in the UK.
