Letter from the Editor
April Basler
Hello Life University StaffI’m proud to say that this is the
first issue of our fifth volume of the
Staff Newsletter. Five years ago,
we started the newsletter with the
intention of bringing staff closer
together. We wanted the staff to
feel more involved with what was
going on around the campus. We felt the need to
create a publication for staff and written by staff. The
newsletter started out small, using Microsoft Publisher
to create our first few publications, but we have really
grown over the years. We hope you continue to enjoy
the eReader format. If you ever have comments or
suggestions for the staff newsletter, feel free to contact
[email protected].
As you may have noticed, my last name has changed
from Zlotnik to Basler. I got married several months
ago, but it was only recently that I officially changed
my last name. It’s nice being at the beginning of the
alphabet now, instead of the very last person on all the
employee lists!
This winter has been a cold one, and we have had some
very unusual weather. We all survived “Snow Jam” 2014
parts 1 and 2, and while most of us were able to enjoy a
few days off work, I would imagine that we would have
rather been at work than dealt with the horrible traffic
jam across Metro Atlanta. The cold weather can also
be dangerous to our pets when they are left outside. Be
sure to read the article called “Taking Extra Care of Your
Pets in Winter” by Shelia Wood.
We have several other interesting articles that you won’t
want to miss. Learn more about what the Marketing
department is doing for the University and how they
can help you in our “Around Campus” feature. Get to
know your fellow employee Zakiya Blake in our “Staff
Member Spotlight.” We have included an update on the
Food4LIFE program and how it is helping our students.
There are some LIFE staff members who have been
married for many years. Find out their secrets to a long
and happy marriage in our feature called, “Looks like
We Made It.”
Here’s to an early spring! Have a great quarter!
