WHERE DO I STAY ?
Most UK universities offer accommodation for first year undergraduate students in university owned halls of residence . A majority of students enjoy the experience of living in university accommodation in their first year away from home as it gives them the opportunity to meet lots of their fellow students and provides a safe environment . Prices vary depending on the type of accommodation you go for . In most cases , your living space in halls will consist of a room which contains a bed , a desk and some wardrobe space . Student rooms are usually located along a corridor which is shared with other flatmates . You will have the choice of catered accommodation , which means that meals are provided in a dining hall , or if you choose to go for the non-catered option , you will share a kitchen with your flatmates . Most universities give you the option of an en-suite room although this will be reflected in the price . Make touring the accommodation a part of your open day agenda as this will give you a good idea of what to expect and will help you to make an informed decision .
When I knew I had a place at my university I applied for Halls of Residence . Moving in on the first day was daunting because you are put in a room within a flat with people that you ’ ve never met before and you don ’ t know if you ’ ll get on with them . But you kind of brave it and you meet some interesting people .
Throughout the year some of them became my closest friends and I was really lucky to have met them and to have been put in that environment where we had to all get along well ”
