SPORTS AND SOCIETIES
Getting involved in the social aspects of university life is an important part of the uni experience. Students’ Unions often offer hundreds of societies for you to get involved in so do make sure to check out exactly what is available at your chosen university. The societies on offer cater to all interests from sports to performing arts, business start-ups to community groupings. Becoming involved in a club or society is a great way to meet new people and to make the most of your university experience.
UNIVERSITY FACILITIES
Most universities have a library, a dedicated student health centre, sports facilities and a careers service, as well as computing facilities and student accommodation. The accessibility and quality of these facilities varies between each institution and it takes some careful research to find out exactly what would be available to you. All universities provide information on their facilities on their websites and many have specialist literature on accommodation and sporting facilities so make sure you do your research. Open Days are also a great opportunity to look at what’ s on offer and to speak to current students about their experience. Think about what is important to you and draw up a list of questions before the Open Day so that you know exactly what you would like to investigate once you get there.
If you have any special needs, get in touch with the university to find out exactly what provision they have in place to cater for your needs.
