Busby Retail Division
Thanks to a friend, we were blessed with a huge donation from Busby, ranging from high end dresses and leather bags to jewellery and shoes. Most of these had only minor damages and could be repaired with little effort.
Some of the dresses were of such high quality that we decided to give it to a local church that in turn helped matric girls, who otherwise would not be able to afford a dress for their matric farewell function. The rest of the clothing was donated to schools and orphanages as far as Mozambique.
Some of the jewellery was donated to a drama school in Klerksdorp as well as to “Koningskinders” in Vanderbijlpark. They repaired the broken pieces in their handcraft sessions, and sold them or gave them away as gifts.
In the end there were still so much left that the ladies of Life Christian Foundation decided to arrange a winter market where the remaining items were sold. They raised a staggering R26 000 for LCA with item prices ranging between R5 – R100.
