So, from primary school through secondary education and all the way to my first year in college, I had missed out on the love of reading and what I could have achieved. It wasn’t until I was studying for my IT Diploma that I was assessed and found to be dyslexic. This changed my life dramatically. I knew now that my difficulties had a name...Dyslexia.

I felt it would change me and I hoped that with the level of support the college was offering and through my determination, I would succeed. It was the determination to reach my goal and my hard work that made me succeed. I passed my Diploma with a distinction and also other courses since, which have helped me, gain confidence.

I now believe in the saying that, “Believe is the most powerful word you can use. If you believe in yourself you can achieve anything. No one can take it away from you.”

Whether it’s a simple book like “Peter Pan”, a biography or a more complex novel like “Fifty Shades of Grey” , just start somewhere, don’t be scared and the chances are you won’t look back....
