Promoting Health and Wellbeing
During the last two weeks of the Autumn term 2016, just before the Christmas Break, Library+
introduced a game of Drunkopoly to raise awareness of drinking responsibly, testing the learners and
staff knowledge of alcohol-related statistics. The game supported the December mandatory tutorial
theme of Know yo ur limits and Christmas Safety.
During the weeks 12 th – 22 nd December 64 learners and staff
played Drunkopoly testing their knowledge and gaining
awareness of issues relating to alcohol such as alcohol limits,
dehydration and hangovers.
During Healthy Breakfast Week 3 rd – 7 th October 2016, Library+
engaged in the following activities to encourage learners and
staff to think about what they eat and drink.
A ‘Rethink your Drink’ activity ran during the week in Library+. This activity
encouraged staff and learners to take part in guessing the sugar content of popular
drinks. Over 125 people participated, with many of them surprised at the amount of
sugar they were consuming when they drank their usual drinks. This encouraged
conversations about how good nutrition can help with concentration and studying.
