A major part of being happy is finding someone and being able to spend the rest of your lives with them; raise children together; grow gray together; and live happily ever after, a fairy tale ending. It’s easy to achieve happiness if you are considered "normal" according to society. In America Normal was a male who has gone to college and attained a reasonable job position and a female with the same merit. Unfortunately, America is made up of a large number of diversities which might not fit the description of normal but still deserve to live happy. A group of people who are currently fighting for recognition is the LGBTQ community.

According to the U.S government people of LGBTQ are not recognized, “Section 3 of DOMA provides a federal definition of marriage as a legal union between a man and a woman, and thus, prevents the federal government from recognizing marriages between same-sex couples for federal purposes” (petitions.whitehouse.gov). “Normal” in America must change so that opportunities such as marriage can be opened to all.
