GENERAL MANAGER
We have been blessed this year with a warm , beautiful summer . I certainly hope everyone had the opportunity to get out and enjoy all the facilities at the Club . Welcome to this month ’ s newsletter ! There are lots of activities planned for September , there ’ s something for everyone ! We are looking forward to Labor Day Weekend , Fall Junior Golf Clinics , the MOAA Golf Event , The Patriot Day Celebration , Cocktails for a Cause , Trivia Night , Special Dining Nights and the LGCC Annual Meeting ( or maybe the party before the meeting ). All the details are listed later , take advantage of this jam-packed month !
The pool will remain open through September , weather permitting , with the outdoor snack bar remaining closed . With all the lifeguards back at school , there will be no lifeguards on duty , so “ SWIM AT YOUR OWN RISK ” will be in effect . The diving board will remain closed for the season , our insurance carrier does not allow its ’ usage without lifeguard supervision .
Please mark your calendar for this year ’ s LGCC Annual Meeting . It will be Tuesday , September 28 , 2021 at 6:00 . We will open the doors early and serve cocktails and hors d ’ oeuvres starting at 5:15 . The Board of Directors will present the 2020-2021 State of the Club and we will elect , by written ballot , four directors whose terms shall be for three years . Looking forward to seeing everyone upstairs in the View that Tuesday night !
September is also the time of year we must ‘ Aerify ’ the greens . Aerification is the process by which holes are put into the greens to allow for air to be able to get into the soil beneath the surface . This aeration process loosens the soil beneath after it has become compacted . When the soil is compacted , the grass roots struggle to breathe . It also enables root systems to grow deeper and more densely , along with improving playability , green firmness , as well as diminish unwanted thatch . We tackle the process September 13 , 14 , and 15 and the course will be closed during the work . We apologize in advance for the inconvenience but when it is all complete , it will help us have smooth , healthy putting surfaces for the next season and beyond .
And finally , it ’ s football season ! The Grill is a great place to have a beer and enjoy a game , especially on Saturday afternoon . The kitchen is putting out great food , new menu items roll out every day , why aren ’ t you here ? Another excuse to use up your minimum early in the month . Thank you everyone for a great summer , see you at the Club !
