ABOUT
The Levy Cup Matches were created to celebrate Mr. Paul
Levy, PGA, who is currently completing his first year of a
two-year term as President of The PGA of America.
Levy earned PGA membership in 1986 and has served in a
leadership capacity at both the Section and national levels
since 1992. Levy is now a member of the Southern
California PGA Section, served as president of the
Southern Texas PGA Section from 1998-2000, and earned
the 2000 Southern Texas PGA Golf Professional of the Year
Award.
The Northern Texas PGA is excited to host the inaugural
event October 15-17 at Royal Oaks Country Club in Dallas.
Much like the Texas Joe Black Cup Matches, the Northern and Southern Texas PGA
Sections will alternate hosting the Levy Cup Matches each year. The Levy Cup teams will
consist of six Assistant Members (A-8 only) and six Senior Members (any classification).
The Ryder Cup style format features the 12 professionals from each Section competing in
Four-Ball and Foursome Matches the first day followed by Singles Matches the final day.
Serving as NTPGA Co-Captains for the 2017 event will be Randy Smith, golf professional
emeritus and PGA director of instruction at Royal Oaks Country Club, and Clif Nelson,
PGA assistant professional at Royal Oaks Country Club. The STPGA Co-Captains will be
Charlie Eskridge, a golf executive with Padre Isles Management Company and Eskridge
Properties, and Houston Country Club Assistant Professional Chris Pribyl.
We are excited to begin these new Matches!
